The Kirkwood Community
Family values, family fun.
Away from the traffic, high rises and bright lights is a place where the air is crisp, the snow is dry and nature is bigger than progress. It’s a community where people know each other. They share common interests and family values. They come to Kirkwood to renew, refresh and reinvigorate with others. They appreciate the authenticity of the Kirkwood community.
The Kirkwood area is the ideal environment to lift your spirits, and decelerate your life. Boarding. Biking. Paddling. Snowshoeing. Cross-country skiing. Maybe just walking. There are more than 60 rivers, streams and lakes in the surrounding area. Make your own fun. You’ll actually find plenty to do, even if it’s nothing.
It’s your community.
The Kirkwood community skis together, hikes together, rides mountain bikes, and boats and swims in the nearby lakes. Kids gather on the race team. Families enjoy lunch in their “unofficial” section of the Mountain Village plaza. They don’t miss the events, including the Volunteer Fire Department Annual BBQ, the 5/10K, the chili cook-off, Christmas tree lighting, pizza nights and tubing, the tennis tourney and the fishing derby. If someone needs something, they just walk across the street and borrow it. It’s part of life in Kirkwood, and is just another reason our residents think it’s such a special place.
